These are the other pictures we have of Craig. The first two were taken the day he was born and the third was taken the day after. In the third picture you can see how large the newborn hat is (lying in front of him) in comparison to his little body.

Craig Bryan Reed

I just wanted to update everyone on Baby Craig's condition. I spoke to Amy yesterday and she said Craig is doing great. He is still in the incubator but he only has the little oxygen prongs in his nose, an IV in his hand (Amy said he hates the IV because of the cardboard taped to his hand/arm to keep it from coming out) and something like an IV in his foot. Fortunately, the IV in his hand is supposed to be getting removed today and connected instead to the one in his foot. Oh I can just imagine what a relief that will be for him. Craig was very bruised when he was born but the doctors put him under the lights used for jaundice and he looks soooo much better now. The picture below is the one we received yesterday. The big green thing on his face is his pacifier. The pacifier is is just the standard one given to any baby born at the hospital. He is so tiny, yet such a huge blessing. Please continue to pray for him as he is not yet out of the woods. Please also continue to pray for Amy and Robert. They are having a pretty hard time as I'm sure you can imagine. Love you all.

Another Update

I spoke with Amy this afternoon and got a little more of a realistic look at how things were going. Craig is still doing great but it is going to be a much slower road than originally thought. Today he graduated from a ventilator to oxygen in his nose then to a little oxygen mask that just pumps oxygen to remind him to breathe. Amy said that he is so tiny. He is in his little incubator and they most likely will not get to hold him for two more weeks. Amy is doing great. She is pretty sore but is able to get up and around pretty good. Robert is leaving tomorrow to go back to Elko for work and will return on Friday. He will be traveling back and forth during the next 8 weeks for work. It looks as though they will have to be up there until at least two weeks before her original due date (8 more weeks). If anyone wants to get a hold of the number is (702)731-8237. That gets you to labor and delivery. I asked for Amy Reed in Rm. 3033. That should get you there. It is going to be a long road so any support or just hearing your voices would I'm sure be appreciated. Well, again, I will keep the updates coming as I receive them.

Craig Bryan Reed

Just wanted you all to know that Amy and Robert had their baby tonight. He was 3 lbs 8 oz., 17 inches long and is doing great (for being 30 weeks). She said he was crying really good. Robert was up in the NICU with him while Amy was recovering and getting doctored up. She was having to wait for an hour before she could see him. The doctors say they want the baby on ventilators for at least 24 hours and that he could potentially only have to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks (what a miracle that would be.)

I talked to Amy earlier tonight, around 4:30, she had just gotten an epidural. She wasn't planning on getting one but she was fully dilated and fully effaced but her water had not broken yet. The doctors wanted her water to break naturally so the baby could be in the womb as long as possible. She felt such a strong urge to push that the doctors recommended she have an epidural so she could not feel that urge anymore. Finally her water broke and she began pushing. She said she had to push for what felt like forever but when she asked Denise how long she had pushed, Denise said it was around 20-25 minutes. Amy was in very high spirits but very ancy to see her baby boy. She got to see him long enough to kiss his little face and then he had to be taken to the NICU. She said he has really blond eyebrows. She will be emailing pictures so I will be sure to post them as soon as I get them if Grandma doesn't get around to it first. Please continue to keep Amy, Robert and Baby Craig in your prayers as baby Craig has a long ways to go before his little body is strong enough to sustain this big world. I will continue updates as I receive them. I Love you all!

Please pray for Amy and her baby boy.

Amy was life-flighted to Las Vegas last night as she was in labor and is only 30 weeks along. As of 8am today she was dilated to a 5 and fully efaced. The doctors at the neonatal intensive care unit she is in are doing everything they can to slow the labor and are giving the baby steroids to prepare him for birth. Unfortunately, the doctors don't think they will be able to stop the labor and believe the baby will be born within the next 24 hours. They did an ultrasound and the baby looks great and is not under any stress. He looks to weigh about 3 pounds. Amy, so far is doing well emotionally but Robert is having a hard time. They all need your prayers and support. I will be out of town this weekend but will call Gramma and Grampa as soon as I get the next update and I will have them post the info.
